The intention & experience (for many) is to harmonise within so that the body can return to optimum health & well-being. This gentle nurturing therapy is one simple way to access deeper states of relaxation & healing.

The client relaxes in a comfortable position & continues to relax deeper & deeper as the harmonic chimes are activated & placed around the body. As the chimes continue to be played intuitively by the practitioner; the body is bathed in a warm cocoon of sound resonance/vibration which assists the client to enjoy subtle shifts & releases of energy blockages. Regular Remedial Health Massage promotes Rejuvenation & Relaxation

Many times I hear people say “my job is killing me” or “my back is killing me” and similar statements that suggest their stress levels are extremely high. Many are experiencing pain as a result of over-work or a job related injury (such as RSI, strains & sprains, anxiety and depression).

My suggestion of – reducing the workload in some way, is often met with the following replies “cost of living too high”; “mortgage/credit card has to be paid”; “love my work, would be lost without it”; “can’t afford to stop”; “no one to replace me” …and the list goes on.

Unfortunately, we often work week after week forgetting  the need to balance our activity with healthy rest/relaxation. Although “a few beers in front of the telly” constitutes rest to many a hard worker; there are also some simple healthy alternatives that could compliment any current lifestyle.

YOGA is one practice that is gentle, yet powerful for boosting the whole body/mind/spirit. Yoga is ALL about balance ~ a weekly session aids relaxation, flexibility, self-awareness and brings peace. Balance between work and rest/relaxation is often the key to surviving our work commitments, and avoiding illness/injury.

Regular Remedial Health Massage is another wonderful way to bring balance to the whole system – mind/body/spirit. In the past many have held the misconception that Remedial or Therapeutic Massage is mainly to aid recovery from injury – this is a bit like putting the ‘cart before the horse’. Today is the first day of spring 2010. As we come out of the chilly winter season (as chilly as it gets in tropical QLD) I have been pondering the significance of springtime in this part of the world – the Southern Hemisphere. We all relate springtime to the warming of our weather after chills of winter; the re-emergence of plant growth; the renewal of many animal species = eg birds are nesting and raising young. And ‘the coming out’ of winter hibernation into a time of increased activity.

It struck me that – although springtime in Northern Hemisphere occurs in March when the Sun in sign of Pisces; in the South our spring occurs in sign of Virgo – bringing us collectively into a whole different focus each time. Read the rest of this entry »

 

For most of us our breathing is unconscious. We take approximately 23,000 breaths per day, yet rarely notice one of them when absorbed in the day to day dilemmas and delights; and the busy-ness of work and play. Many of us are breathing in various levels of toxins in any twenty four hour period.  City living, job/work environment and habits like smoking cigarettes, cigars or various other drugs/substances (including alcohol), as well as modern food all affect our breathing.

When we do begin to choose a deeper relationship with our breath it can feel strange at first. Almost like you’ve been ‘caught out’ doing something you shouldn’t. The reaction can be like a fight or flight response where breath becomes restricted and fear emerges. For some this ‘uncomfortable’ feeling stops them in their travels, and they figure – “That was too hard, I’ll go back to unconscious breathing thanx – I don’t need the hassle/drama!” Read the rest of this entry »
