Therapeutic Massage is relaxing, healing, balancing . .  Regular Therapeutic Massage with a skilled therapist  will bring immense benefits throughout your whole body. Source someone who is Trained & Experienced – often the referral of a trusted friend will point you in the right direction.

There are many different types of Therapeutic Massage – Sports, Shiatsu, Deep Tissue, Kahuna to name a few.  The majority work on simular principals of gentle expert movements applied throughout the body in sequence. Massage for healing has its origins in ancient wisdom and traditions found in most cultures.

A good Massage will benefit all areas of the recipients’ body, as well as assist with calming the mind and occasionally helping with release of emotional blocks. The list of common ailments helped by Professional Massage Therapies is very long. It includes circulation problems, edema,  muscular aches, fatigue, chronic pain, fibro myalgia,  muscle cramping, injury, cellulite & carpal tunnel syndrome.

In my personal clinical experience (over 20years) I have assisted clients ~
coping with stressful work conditions;
throughout pregnancy;
with various back conditions;
experiencing age-related symptoms such as arthritis;
many with chronic neck & shoulder pain;
and many others who maintain optimum health with a regular 1hour session.
During Therapeutic Massage the heartbeat is not increased, yet the movement of blood throughout the body is simular to doing physical exercise. Therefore both inner and outer health benefits can be equivalent to doing up to 3hours rigorous workout.

The ideal environment for receiving Therapeutic Massage is one away from loud noise and busy activities. The lighting would be soft, some natural airflow and the temperature will be mild, with gentle relaxing music playing in the background. And most importantly – the recipient/client  feels welcome, safe, comfortable and unhurried.

Other elements to look for when searching for a good Massage Therapist include – visible Credentials or Membership to Recognised Organisation;
asks for previous & current  health history;
focus throughout the massage is kept on the person receiving;
keeps distractions to absolute minimum;
maintain constant contact with body using balanced movements;
seeks feedback often to ensure comfort of recipient;
and keeps Silence as the Golden Rule unless client needs to talk.

yaninayoga recently researched the ancient practice of reading hands . . . . .  This activity  can be traced back to 384BC, with links to Aristotle and Greek Gods. Many of us are aware of the signifigance of hands found in rock paintings of Aboriginal Australians and other early cultures. While archaeological discoveries accross the planet have found hands made of stone, wood and ivory by ancient civilizations.

The Catholic Church was responsible for forcing the Art of Palmistry to go underground. They branded the practice as ‘linked with the devil’ and murdered anyone who was found engaged in or interested in Hand Reading.

Meditation /Relaxation is aides by our Breath.

Meditation /Relaxation is aided by Awareness of Breathing Techniques.

How we are Breathing plays a major role in our ability to Relax, Meditate and Heal Stress related Symptoms in our body.

Although there are many forms of Meditation, the most basic type we can use is to Follow our Breath ( Technique explained in the Introduction of this series).  Another Simple Candle Meditation that will Still the Mind and Soothe the Soul is – Read the rest of this entry »

For most of us our breathing is unconscious. We take approximately 23,000 breaths per day, yet rarely notice one of them when absorbed in the day to day dilemmas and delights; and the busy-ness of work and play. Many of us are breathing in various levels of toxins in any twenty four hour period.  City living, job/work environment and habits like smoking cigarettes, cigars or various other drugs/substances (including alcohol), as well as modern food all affect our breathing.

Sit cross-legged on the floor

When we do begin to choose a deeper relationship with our breath it can feel strange at first. Almost like you’ve been ‘caught out’ doing something you shouldn’t. The reaction can be like a fight or flight response where breath becomes restricted and fear emerges. For some this ‘uncomfortable’ feeling stops them in their travels, and they figure – “That was too hard, I’ll go back to unconscious breathing thanx – I don’t need the hassle/drama!” Read the rest of this entry »

Diary of an Unborn Child

CONCEPTION:

      Today my life began. My parents do not know it yet, but it is I already. And I am to be a girl. I shall have blond hair and blue eyes. Just about everything is settled though, even the fact that I shall love flowers.

TWO WEEKS:

      Some say that I am not a real person yet, that only my mother exists. But I am a real person, just as a small crumb of bread is yet truly bread. My mother is. And I am. Read the rest of this entry »

“My Husband/Lover has left me for another woman – I feel like stabbing ‘him/her’ to death!!!!”

Here are some very important elements to consider when facing this kind of plight

1.   Know that is OK,  AND perfectly normal to be having these feelings in this type of circumstance

2.   Know that this situation (these feelings of helplessness, rage & pain) WILL ease & WILL pass

3.   You have the Power, Wisdom & Universal Support to move through this turbulence in your own time

4.   You are NEVER alone with your painful feelings, confusion or turmoil – We ALL have these experiences at various times in our lives – often bringing up Anger & Rage that we attribute to the ‘cause’

Have you ever wondered why you feel like ‘crap’ when you don’t get enough sleep?? - YES – it’s because you are ‘crappy’ – The TRUTH is you didn’t give your body a chance to DETOX – so you are feeling crap cause your system is clogged with toxins & gunk that is normally/Naturally cleared away while you snooze!!
Next time you get the chance to observe someone in a deep sleep – don’t tickle their feet to wake em up!! Instead, sit with them for awhile & try and pace your breathing (remember, make sure they are in a deep sleep) with theirs.
VERY QUICKLY you will notice how deep & long & slow each breath is!! Read the rest of this entry »
